Dr. Turbo - Skeeter walked up to a stranger and said, "hey how do I climb this mountain?" And just starts up the mountain. When he's about six feet (two meters) off the ground he says, "now what do I do?" I said, "get down!"

Entrance to the Mountain Rescue Team's headquarters. They are there everyday to help the climbers. Two days earlier there was a fatality on the mountain as one of the climbers had what was suspected to be a heart attack. Apparently there are several deaths each year of climbers on this mountain.

Getting to know the mountain rescue team. They later gave us each a red T-shirt you see them wearing. Very cool!

We were brought into an area where tourist don't get to go. Apparently during the Cold War, the Russians dug these elaborate and enormous tunnel system. It's is guessed that this was done in the 40's sometime. This was uses in case of nuclear attack by the US. The pictures that follow are those of just a portion of the tunnels that are hundreds of feet below rock. It' is so impressive, and the work that must have happened to make this happen is unimaginable! The Croatian's didn't even know this existed until they declared their independence in the early 1990's. These were seal off, and they opened them to discover the elaborate maze of tunnels. They will be making a portion of this into a visitor center for the National park. You could easily house thousands of people in these tunnels.
